Sony NGP Officially Named PS Vita, Prices, Specs

Sony has officially named the highly anticipated Sony NGP project—the successor of the PSP—the PS Vita.

The PS Vita will launch worldwide by the end of 2011 and will arrive in two separate models starting at $249 for the Wi-Fi only model and $299 for the 3G+Wi-Fi model, which is still quite cheap considering the power packed inside this machine.

PS Vita 3G+Wi-Fi model specifications:

ARM Cortex A9 (4-cores)
Quad-Core PowerVR SGX543MP+ GPU
Front & Rear Camera
Built-in GPS
WiFi 802.11 b/g/n
Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR
3G connectivity

All seriousness aside, do you think the name "NGP" represents Sony's newest handheld better than "Vita"? Personally I'd choose the NGP anytime, considering YouTube comments say that it's short for Nintendo Got Pwned.

It's also worth noting that: 1) Sony would allegedly be partnering up with USA's AT&T for the PS Vita's 3G capabilities and; 2) the PS Vita has backwards compatibility with PSX and PSP games, which is absolutely awesome.

You should seriously consider acquiring a PS Vita for yourself. Why? Well, for one, it has heavyweight titles such as Tekken X Street Fighter, Uncharted, Ridge Racer, Dynasty Warriors, Metal Gear and of course, the Grand Theft Auto series.

Here's a trailer. Watch:

The moment PS Vita's slim version hits Philippine shores (if there is going to be a slim model), expect me to buy it. I do hope that it won't exceed the P20,000 price mark though. And oh yeah, like someone said, "Holy Macaroni."

'Till my next installment.
