Rendezvous – More Than Just Your Average Ear Candy

When I first listened to Rendezvous’ music online, I instantly recognized this was no ordinary music, and definitely more than the usual pop music that people so often listen to but later forget. Rendezvous was more than that.

Rendezvous is a self-labeled electropop band, but it’s a little more than that. Yes, there is fresh and tasteful electronica in their instrumental music, but there is jazz too, and I daresay, even hints of impressionist classical music! There is something about Rendezvous music that gives not only a treat for the ears but for the mind and the soul as well. Every time I listen to any of the band’s three available online tracks - No Man’s Land, So What and Incognito, I feel relaxed by the soft strains and yet energized by the upbeat notes. My nerves feel calmer, yet my mind is alert. Listening to Rendezvous is like having a music spa!

The one-of-a-kind music they compose can be traced to their roots and passion for music. Both band members, Itai Simon and Hagai Izenberg, have been music lovers since childhood. Izenberg started playing the organ at four years old. He later played keyboards and experimented with vintage analog synthesizers.  Simon, meanwhile, started his love affair with the guitar at ten years old. While at first he played electric guitar he found his “true love” – as he calls it – seven years later with the bass guitar.

When the two met while studying music at Rimon School of Jazz and Contemporary Music, they hit it off and started playing together. Most of their sessions were just for fun, until they uploaded one on the net, gradually making them known and popular among online music listeners. And the rest, they say, is history.

This year, they are releasing their debut album mainly because of the clamor from fans – eight fresh, original tracks, with intriguing visuals from filmmaker Uzi Adam. And the album is now being mixed by David Bascombe – yes, the legend who also mixed for Depeche Mode, Tears for Fears and Suede.

For now, while waiting for their album, I am listening to their music I downloaded for free at their official site. Check out the music for yourself – you can also listen to the tracks through streaming in the site. You can also catch videos of their studio sessions at Rendezvous’ official YouTube channel.
Listen and hear for yourself what makes Rendezvous different!
