Formerly known under the working title "Project K", Yakuza: Black Panther is a spin-off on PlayStation Portable that was released in Japan on September 22, 2010.

The player takes on the role of Ukyo Tatsuya, a teenage delinquent who follows a policy of "Mights makes Right". Being the Bancho of a street gang, he manages to satiate his desire for violence through gang wars and crimes. After an extortion racket was being split and Tatsuya, unhappy with the share unleashes his anger on his boss and killed him. Wanted for murder, Tatsuya was forced to escape from town but was captured by Kuki Ryuutaro, the leader of the Kuki Clan and owner of the fight ring "Dragon Heat", with an ever growing lust for violence. Tatsuya begins his fight inside the ring and with himself.
