An Epic Encounter At The Grandest Stage Of Them All.
Wrestling fans worldwide literally had their senses shocked when The Rock made a groundbreaking return to the ring last Monday night on Raw. It wasn’t Dwayne Johnson, movie star, giving us a guest appearance on the Titantron, or delivering a speech at the Hall Of Fame ceremony. No, this was the superstar who defined theAttitude Era, who had the most intense matches with the likes of Stone Cold Steve Austin and Triple H, who sold-out entire stadiums and cut promos that could tear his opponents’ egos to shreds, and who could ‘Layeth the Smackdown’ on each and every candy-ass that he came toe to toe with!

On Monday The Rock shook the landscape on Raw by announcing that he’s back to host WrestleMania 27, and then went on to call-out, mock, and rip into the character of the biggest superstar in today’s wrestling scene, John Cena! It was monumental, to say the least. On one side you have Cena, who for 7 years has dedicated blood, sweat, and tears to this business, also winning the WWE andWorld Heavyweight Championship multiple times and creating the new wave of entertainment in WWE. He defines the current era so much, that even the WWE Championship is crafted with his own custom design. Then on the other end you have The Most Electrifying Man In All of Entertainment, The Rock, who comes from an era in wrestling much different from the current “PG” era; a gritty, more intense time in WWE history that doesn’t sit well with the current landscape. I cannot wait to see what goes down at WrestleMania. This isn’t a match, but even an encounter between The Rock and John Cena is something that people have wished for ever since the new era in wrestling began. If The Rock’s return and verbal assault on Cena almost blew the roof off Anaheim, I cannot imagine what the atmosphere will be like when he and Cena stare each other down (and cut a promo) in front of 75,000 roaring fans, some Cenation and some the People! It’ll be a moment cemented into WWE’s timeline, and hopefully it’s something that will lead-up to a match next year when WrestleMania heads to The Rock’s hometown inMiami, Florida. Hey, it could happen, and when it does it’ll be phenomenal!
