Inviting everyone to come and join for our 2nd annual Blogger Fiesta Manila 2011. This is a 2nd event after the successful global event celebration for Blogger.com's birthday which is called - Blogger Fiesta, last year August 2010. We also celebrated and organized an event for Manila and dubbed as Blogger Fiesta Manila 2010 in Fully Booked Bonifacio High Street . There are also ground events happened in different part of the Philippines organized by pinoy bloggers individuals and groups.

Being A Nuffnang Blogger is the Hottest Thing Since Summer

It's already the rainy season. It's sometimes still hot but not as crazy hot as it was last summer. But do you know what's making things still hot and sizzly with all this rain around? You guessed it, Nuffnang. Specifically Nuffnang bloggers. But what does being a Nuffnang blogger have to do with hotness? Simple: Nuffies are the embodiment of "hot" in the Philippines.

If you've been in and around a few Nuffnang events from the past or just recently, you would've noticed how hot the Nuffnang crew and the Nuffnang bloggers are. Things begin to sizzle when these people start packing up together faster than you can say "BURNNNN!" No, really. With all the eye candy walking around, it's not hard to break your neck from all the head twisting and turning simply from ogling at the passing Nuffnang women, which is of course, very understandable.

Digressing but still related to "hot", I just want to tell you that Pizza Hut now offers Hot on the Dot Pizza deliveries: 30 minutes AND hot (as indicated by the thermally activated sticker you place on the pizza box upon receiving your pizza) or your pizza is FREE! Hey, who knows right? You might just want to eat pizza the minute after you read this post. Maybe you're going to eat one inside a cinema, just like me a few days from now. But this much I'm sure: Pizza is one of the best-est snacks around. Why, you can even eat it as a meal. Don't ask why, ask why not?

With all these said, me and my girlfriend are hopefully going to watch—as Nuffnang Philippines put it—the exponentially hotter "Cowboys and Aliens" movie, all that together with Pizza Hut pizzas. What's cooler than that!

Cowboys and Aliens are basically about cowboys attacking aliens, no need for further elaboration. No, really. It stars Daniel Craig (the dude from James Bond), Harrison Ford (the old dude from Indiana Jones) and Olivia Wilde (the dudette from Tron Legacy). These people are "hot" in their own respect.

Needless to say, eating pizzas while watching a movie is just perfect. So the next time you watch something at home together with your hot special someone, dial 911-11-11 if you want your pizzas Hot on the Dot!

Happy International Caps Lock Day!

Did you know that today is International Caps Lock Day? This event makes it to my top silliest international holidays easy. I mean, come on. A keyboard-based holiday, really?

Let's shed some light on how International Caps Lock Day came to be. The dude who founded this day was Derek Arnold (who I presume is now 97 years old, or dead) back in 2000. He deemed October 22 as International Caps Lock Day and that people around the should type in all caps. But due to it's popularity, International Caps Lock Day is celebrated twice a year, the second day being June 28—which coincidentally is the same day "Infomercial King" Billy Mays died. The June 28 version of the International Caps Lock Day is pays tribute to him. How or why? I don't know.

Yeah, same here buddy

The October 22 version of the International Caps Lock Day however is the more observed date. But for what it's worth, HAPPY INTERNATIONAL CAPS LOCK DAY!

And by the way, this date has it's own website called capslockday.com. It has lots of pictures of Caps Lock keys, and if I'm not mistaken a photo of Snoop Dogg in a Santa suit.

Nuffnang and Hapee Special Screening

Hapee and Nuffnang, what makes them both first class? Well, this post is going to tackle that very question. Come with me as I try to answer this question.

First of all, what is Nuffnang? Well, Nuffnang's just the first local internet ad-serving organization here in the Philippines. It's so home-based in fact that it actually has a Nuffnang PH HQ on Global City. And being first has its perks. A huge community, a big fan base, lots of advertisers and publishers. Last but not the least, awesome events. On that perspective alone, Nuffnang totally is first class.

Congratulations on Neutralizing Osama bin Laden

All that needs to be said has been said regarding the successful neutralization of al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden. All that remains now are the fine details of the Abottabad mission and the implications of bin Laden's death to the world.

I was one of the people watching CNN when the news of Osama's death suddenly broke out. I wasn't expecting it, since for a decade now the man has eluded capture. But today, it's a victory.

Anyway, I just want to congratulate U.S. President Barack Obama, former Pres. George Bush Jr., the US Military and the US Intelligence for successfully neutralizing Osama bin Laden. The world appreciates it. Like Obama put it, "Justice have been served."

The Royal Wedding 2011 Schedule of Events

The Royal Wedding, as the world very much knows by now, will occur tomorrow April 29, 2011 at 07:15 GMT at Westminster Abbey. Starring in the Royal Wedding is of course, Prince William and Princess Catherine Middleton. As much as I'm tempted to put up a Royal Wedding 2011 live video stream here, I doubt it's going to catch that much attention since every Briton and non-Briton will be definitely glued on their TV screens, watching everything on the Royal Wedding.

I'm really surprised that every detail in the Royal Wedding has been planned, down to the last minute. I guess Royal Weddings really do command such respect and detail since they only happen once a generation. That said, I got a copy of the Royal Wedding's schedule of events for tomorrow from the Associated Press. Read it below:

I'll let you in on a personal secret. It has been a childhood dream of mine to be knighted by Her Royal Majesty. Not that I have done any spectacular or valorous thing in life, but just carrying the title "Sir" until death is such a wonderful thing. If I do get knighted for some fate-twisting reason, I'll get to attend future Royal Weddings. Nice eh?

Earth Hour 2011: Do Your Part

Once again that time of the year has come. Yes, the time I'm talking about is that particular time where millions of people in the world turn off their lights or whatever they have running consuming energy to participate in – that's right – Earth Hour.

For three straight years now (since this blog's inception) I've been all for Earth Hour, though I think I made an Earth Day article back in 2009. Every year more and more people participate in Earth Hour. And as the world population's awareness about everything Earth Hour stands for rises, a lot become conscious about their lifestyle and reconsider changing their ways. I for one sat down, took a breather and now I always pull electrical plugs from wall sockets because of the so-called "phantom drain.

At some point in time you got to get conscious with how you spend energy around you. This terrible cycle of energy consumption definitely should head for the better.

Earth Hour's purpose is primarily to send a strong message against climate change, but Earth Hour itself encompasses lots of sustainability issues. It's more than just turning off the lights for an hour.

So tomorrow, at 8:30 PM on Saturday 26th March 2011, lights will switch off around the globe for Earth Hour 2011 and people will commit to actions that go beyond the hour. Why not participate? It's just for an hour. You'll not lose anything. But imagine all the energy that would be saved in an hour of lights off all over the world.

I'm looking forward that you, together with millions of people around the world in all walks of life, participate in turning off your lights, just for an hour.

I saw this informercial on TV about the pending mining activities in Palawan and I was quite distraught. I never knew that the Palawan's Puerto Princesa Underground River has a pending mining contract, and I'm Filipino! And to think that it's a top contender at the new 7 Wonders of the World contest. Not only that, there's lots of beautiful places in Palawan that are soon to be mining grounds. The irony.

See, these kinds of stuff never make it in the news. It's all about the corporate high-ups, bureaucracy, and money. Damn. If anyone with power would just care. So here I am doing my part to raise awareness about it: SAY NO TO MINING IN PALAWAN.

Today is Mandaluyong Day!

Hey, today's Mandaluyong Day, or more specifically, today is the day this city got liberated from the province of Rizal and established itself as an independent locality.

Once upon a time, Rizal was an all encompassing province. It owned the majority of cities here in the Metro: Mandaluyong, Marikina, Pasig, some parts of Quezon City, and etcetera. Some genius decided to slice the Rizal province up to city-sized chunks and make them cities. That's why sometimes in you can see Mandaluyong City still being recognized as a part of Rizal in non-updated internet websites or boards. So now you know.

Anyway, the Mandaluyong City Circle (which houses the City Government Office) will be closed at 1PM this afternoon and will be unavailable to all vehicles. All traffic from Makati, Pasig, Manila and from other cities as well will be diverted to somewhere.

There will be lots of festivities during the day: some bands are going to be playing music on a huge stage. I'm sure there's going to be parades too. Some food maybe. And of course a special appearance of Mayor Ben Abalos. Unfortunately I'll be staying home. It's too hot outside.

Risk Everything You Got at RISQ

We here at this site love doing lots of writing about everything – be it games, food, politics and whatnot. Apparently, we also do fashion. RISQ – What is it?

RISQ, in cooperation with Go Negosyo: Babae Kapuso Ka ng Bayan and GMA 7, is a search for the best student designers in the Philippines who will become the “NEW STARS IN SUMMER LIFESTYLE FASHION."

Contestants are challenged to design a complete wardrobe collection for men and women which consists of only 11 sets that a sophisticated client can take on a summer holiday. It should be fashion forward, provocative, compact, and practical. The collection must be versatile enough to clothe the client in style from morning ‘til evening - from the resort to the beach to the water.

The competition shall culminate in a grand gala finale fashion show and awarding ceremony in front of a panel of judges and viewed by a live audience comprised of local and international press, buyers, celebrities, fashion bloggers and VIPs.

Profits from RISQ will go to the Rotary of San Nicolas Street Children’s Foundation.


Make or Break

Participants of the said event will have a chance to work with experts to bring their vision to life. They shall undergo a mentoring session about styling, trends and retailing business with fashion industry experts such as Delby Bragais.

Out of the 11 participating students, only one would take home, aside from the P150,000 cash prize and various gift certificates from sponsors, the bragging rights of being featured in a major broadsheet, a fashion magazine, and a prominent shopping establishment, which I suppose are far more better than any cash prize a a fashion event has to offer. Just two days to go and it's time once again for the Feast of the Black Nazarene. This year's theme is "Yakap ng Poong Nazareno, Yakap ng Sambayanan Tungo sa Pagbabagong Buhay."

Like every other year, devotees that will participate in the whole event will be tested to their limits. Not only are there lots of people wanting to touch the holy Black Nazarene statue, present too are the elements of nature that may, provided you're not physically and mentally prepared, knock you out cold.

2) Physically and mentally ready. Well you can look at the pictures and say to yourself  "I can do that too." Once you're in the actual event though, it's not that easy. People collapse just from heat exhaustion. Some unfortunate few even get trampled;

3) Always alert for thieves and pickpockets. Yes, even in this holy event unscrupulous people will still take advantage of other people's belongings.

To sum it all up, be careful out there. God bless you in your journey at the Feast of the Black Nazarene. Jot down all the schedules and print out the procession route for the feast just to be sure.

You might've heard word about Pres. Aquino's memo that changed former Pres. Arroyo's order about non-working and public holidays here in the Philippines. For your information, the Philippines is the top nation here in Southeast Asia that has the most holidays in a given year - 21 holidays.

Anyway, public and non-working holidays in the Philippines are listed below:

Public Holidays:
January 1 (New Year’s Day) – Saturday
April 9 (Araw ng Kagitingan) – Saturday
April 21 (Maundy Thursday) – Thursday
April 22 (Good Friday) – Friday
May 1 (Labor Day) – Sunday
June 12 (Independence Day) – Sunday
August 29 (National Heroes Day) – Monday
December 25 (Christmas Day) – Sunday
December 30 (Rizal Day) – Friday

Non-Working Holidays:
August 21 (Ninoy Aquino Day) – Sunday
November 1 (All Saints Day) – Tuesday
December 31 (Last Day) – Saturday

There's lots of public and non-working holidays falling on Saturdays and Sundays too. Bummer eh?

Top Ten Things You Should Have This Christmas

 Today is December 2, 2010. We've finally entered the Christmas month. I won't bother posting how Christmas Day came to be. Everybody knows that Christmas became Christmas because it just did. 

Anyway, you should have started decorating your home right now. If you haven't yet, sucks to be you. So I'm gonna do a top ten list of what you should put in your house as decorations during this Yuletide season. The following would not be in any particular order. Just a plain top ten. So let's start:


#10. Christmas Lights

Everybody knows that Christmas lights are essential to every coming Christmas. Without this, surely it would be a different world. Just remember to not overdo your Christmas lights or else your house would look like a stripjoint.

#9. A Jesus' stable

Do I really need to explain what this is for? Of course, Christmas Day signifies the birth of Jesus. Why not put a porcelain re-enactment of that day on your home? Just don't buy a stable too large.

#8. Christmas Ribbons

Who doesn't love ribbons? Not just ordinary ribbons, of course you gotta use special X'mas ribbons. Put some on your ceiling and curtain rods. This would make the month extra special.

#7. Christmas Wreaths

Who doesn't put wreaths on their home during Christmas? Perfect for your front door or some spot in your home. Don't buy wreaths that are full of glitter. Glitters=bad, wreaths=good.

#6. Christmas Globes

Right. Globes are very iconic. So iconic in fact that they've been featured in almost evey Christmas movie around. Just shake it and snow falls. Put one in top of your TV.

#5. Christmas Candles

Candles are good for Christmas, especially those scented ones. Why not? It gives that warm and joyous feeling to every person inside your home. Perfect on a center or side table. Warning: Don't place near curtains. May burn your house.

#4. Empty Christmas Boxes

The question is, "why not?" These things deserve a spot in your home even if they're empty and just for display. Makes you feel Christmas-y and all. Just tell your kids that it's just for display. They might sneak up in the middle of the night and jump it.

#3. Christmas Socks & Candy Canes

You gotta have this one if you're waiting for Santa's gifts. This may look old-fashioned, but it isn't. Parents, pass the spirit of Christmas on to your kids. Let their imagination grow. Spread the word about Santa. Put several hundred bucks on your kid's Christmas sock.

#2. The Mistletoe

Kiss me quick! They say that a man and a woman who meet under a mistletoe should kiss each other. Well guys, what are you waiting for? Put this in your front door and wait for someone you like to enter. The rest is history.

#1. The Christmas Tree
This tree right here defines Christmas. You don't ever see Christmas being celebrated without a Christmas tree. You gotta have one. And I assume that you already have one installed because of the fact that you're reading something about Christmas. Buy a tree with a good height. A 10' tree is good. Don't garnish it with oh too many Christmas lights. And don't forget the gifts at the bottom.

With all this said, you really gotta go to your nearest department store and shop for Christmas items. Watch your budget, especially your weight. Don't eat too much 'kay? An advanced Merry Christmas coming from Tj's Daily.
