WWE RAW takes place tonight from the BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. While no matches have been advertised WWE will be keen to combat another weak rating following last weeks episode which dipped below a 3.0 cable rating.

Cm Punk Vs.Stone Cold ''The Twitter Bout''

Former WWE Undisputed Champion CM Punk and WWE Hall of Famer Stone Cold Steve Austin were engaged in a friendly exchange of remarks over Twitter. It all started when he tweeted to Stone Cold after Austin told Zack Ryder the following:

@CMPunk: “@steveaustinBSR: @ZackRyder why HELL NO you can't put a lime in the damn beer!!!” To make it not taste like piss. It's still poison.

Stone Cold immediately responded to CM Punk's remarks.

@steveaustinBSR: "@CMPunk you oughta mind your own business...stay focused on Nash and leave the beer drinking to me...Punk."

Then CM Punk decides to invoke his habits of being a self-proclaimed habitual line-stepper.

@CMPunk: "@steveaustinBSR focus is my middle name...Steven."

The remark prompted Austin to further emphasize his tone in this response.

@steveaustinBSR: "@CMPunk my middle name is Whoop Ass...now go about your business before you step in a big pile of what did I get myself into now??"

The feud seems to have drawn an appropriate amount of attention that even former inagural WWE Undisputed Champion Chris Jericho chipped his 2 cents on the matter promptly followed by a rebuke from Punk.

“@IAmJericho: It's so cute reading @CMPunk and @steveaustinBSR 's lil cyber bitch-fights...” Yeah. Way more entertaining than you and Miz.

John Morrison Leaving WWE

 John Morrison contract with the WWE is ending soon. And JoMo will not be signing a new one. John has said no to a new contract due to the fact that WWE aren't using him right. They're aware he still has a neck injury but they won't give him a break. Just before SummerSlam he was working a really tough shift. He was appearing on both Smackdown and Raw for two weeks while he still had the injury. Morrison has also said no to a deal with TNA also because of his injury.

WWE confirmed on RAW tonight that next Tuesday night’s live SmackDown on SyFy special will feature Superstars from the RAW brand. SuperSmackDown Live airs next Tuesday nigiht on SyFy at 8pm EST.

PWInsider.com reports that WWE has reportedly been considering to revive the relatively long-gone aspect of the WWE, the cruiserweight division. Talks are that WWE are heavily interested in signing light heavyweight and cruiserweight talent in order to sign them to developmental deals. This, however, has yet to be confirmed, but the goal of WWE is to improve the quality of the undercard, and to give cruiserweight mainstays such as Evan Bourne and newcomer Sin Cara, be it Hunico or Mistico, people to work with and have great matches that will drastically improve the undercard. This essentially can be said to be the work of Triple H, as he prepares to slowly take over the day-to-day operations of the multinational conglomerate.

  Kofi Kingston and Evan Bourne became the new WWE Tag Team Champions on last night's RAW by defeating David Otunga and Michael McGillicutty for the second week in a row.

Update On Rey Mysterio Injury

WWE Star Likely Out for ‘Months & Months’
- Rey Mysterio had been under the impression that he torn his ACL and MCL.

Going into the match with Alberto Del Rio on last Monday’s RAW, the idea was to take things easy but Rey tore his bad knee up very bad on a baseball slide.

The latest from someone close to him is that he may be out of action for “months and months,” and will most likely need the surgery now.

Before the bad news from Monday came out, Rey was expecting to work through with more rehab.

WWE Raw Preview For Tonight 8/22/11

The advertised dark match main event will be a 6-man tag team match featuring John Cena, Rey Mysterio and the Big Show vs. WWE Champion Alberto Del Rio, The Miz and R-Truth.

 

 

Tonight’s WWE RAW will take place from Rexall Place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and will feature the build to Night of Champions.

WWE is teasing that tonight’s show will be an “epic edition” and they are teasing a confrontation between WWE Champion Alberto Del Rio and John Cena.

New Details About WWE'12 Video Game

Marcus Stephenson of WWE Games recently released some new details concerning the upcoming WWE '12 video game on his official Twitter page.

He stated that Randy Orton will have his beard in the game, and that his alternate look would be without the beard.

Stephenson also said that despite the idea being on their list of "things to add" and despite previous reports, there will not be a Six-Diva Elimination Chamber Match in the game.

He also stated that there is a big possibility that Kharma will be in the game, but couldn't "make any promises."

WWE '12 New Updates Confirmed Superstars Name And More!

The following names have been confirmed for the upcoming WWE '12 video game, due out for release this coming November:

Rumors are also abound that the game will feature such WWE Legends as The Rock and The Road Warriors, but this is not yet being officially confirmed.

Cory Ledesma of THQ has also announced that details about the gameplay-related features will be revealed at next week's E3 convention, but full details of the game, such as gameplay modes, would not be released until August. Furthermore, the official WWE '12 demo will be released at E3 next week before it will be available for download online.

Ledesma has also confirmed that WWE '12 will be available for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Nintendo Wii users only. The game will not be released on such platforms as the PlayStation 2 or the PSP handheld console.

Details for WWE's New Video Game - WWE '12

Here's part of IGN's details on the game:

"For years WWE SmackDown vs. Raw has been the Sports Entertainment simulation series from THQ and Yuke's Yokohama. It's been a fun ride, but as with any franchise, fans have complained about annual aspects over and over again. Turns out the developers were listening, killed the series, and are planning on fixing things with WWE '12.

The stiff animations, the characters warping into place for certain moves, the confusing right analog stick controls for grapples -- WWE '12 is addressing all of that and feels good so far. That's pretty damn exciting.

Now, it would be easy to glance at screenshots and assume THQ and developer Yuke's Yokohama just dumped the WWE SmackDown vs. Raw name and called it a day. That's what I did. For a few days leading into my meeting, THQ had been telling me this game was going to be unlike any other WWE game I had seen, but when I finally laid eyes on it, WWE '12 sure did look similar to WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2011.

Then, I started to play it. THQ and Yuke's didn't just change the name, they changed the game's DNA. There's a new animation system, new blending methods, something called "Predator Technology" -- basically, they went under the game's hood and ripped out all the old stuff that people hated and plugged in brand new parts to try and make the most fluid wrestling game around.

When John Cena's suplexing an opponent, a third Superstar can punch Cena and break up the move. You can do that for any move -- even Finishers and mini-games like the Royal Rumble eliminations. When you're slammed to the mat at the beginning of a bout, you're going to sell the move and get up at the same time so that the match keeps a fast-paced feel. When you're getting up from any move, you're going to have a window to strike before you're even to your feet. The goal is to have a game that feels like anything can happen from any position and eradicate that stiffness and clunkiness that has always been a calling card of WWE SmackDown vs. Raw.

For me, it all came together watching a three-man match. Orton laid out an opponent and went to the ring apron, Cena immediately started his 5-Knuckle Shuffle routine on the downed man, and as Cena was coming down, Randy Orton launched himself from the apron to land a splash. Orton hit, Cena hit, and Orton hit again. The sequence was polished and fast -- it looked like a spot from ECW of old. There was no blown animation as the character on the ground reacted to the first move and ignored the other.

People don't warp to the center of the ring for a 5-Knuckle Shuffle and similar moves anymore; the move happens where it happens. The ropes no longer stay awkwardly still during matches; you slam someone and the ring reacts. The tired fonts and menus of old have been ditched for a new setup. Visually, new shaders and tech have been introduced to make the game look better than ever. There's definition to the character's faces instead of the blur there was last year, and depth of field has been introduced to give the brand new arenas weight and realism.

The game, according to THQ, has been taken apart and put back together, and from the little I've seen, I believe them -- though the changes aren't monumental when you stare at a still image, they shine in motion.

Seeing the game in motion is where the proof of all these Predators and shaders lives. I've already talked about how the moves flow together, but there's more to it than that. The days of analog stick grapples are over. Now, everything's going back to the face buttons of your favorite controller. Grapple, strike, pin and Finisher are all right there for the taking. There are no strong and weak grapples -- the moves you're pulling off are dependent on how worn down the opponent is.

That's all well and good, but there are specific things THQ has peppered in that affect the gameplay. First, there's limb targeting in WWE '12. You can attack the head, arms or legs, and while this obviously puts you in a good place for certain finishers, it also really twists the match in whatever direction you want it to go. If you're up against a lightning quick high flier, you can work the legs so the opponent can't get around as quickly and can't zip up the turnbuckles. Work the head, and the opponent is going to be a groggy mess. All this plays into how easy it'll be to get an opponent to tap in the new "Breaking Point" submission system where players tap buttons in a tug of war mini-game.

Epic brawls are going to look like the epic brawls you see on TV -- both in terms of the new camera angle that's more pulled back and the gameplay speed I talked about earlier -- but they get even more like Monday Night Raw when you add in the new Wake Up Taunts in WWE '12. Basically, you know how Randy Orton pounds the ground before he goes to hit his Finisher on TV? That can happen in the game now. You knock your opponent down with your Finisher primed, hit the taunt button, and you'll get a celebration that ends with the opponent getting to his feet in the perfect setup for your big move. The opponent gets a chance at reversing it, but it really brings together that TV style presentation THQ's been working on for the last few years.

That said, I thought the stamina bar was a bit of a step backwards in WWE '12. The last few WWE SmackDown vs. Raw games incorporateda barely visible halo around the Superstars feet to keep players in-tune with how they're doing in a match and not distract from the presentation. As of now, WWE '12 features a big meter with a name on it at the bottom of the screen showing how close you are to building a Signature or Finisher (you can store two Finishers). I found it jarring as the game looks better than ever and is trying so hard to mimicbroadcasts.

Still, that's the only gripe I have with the new direction. WWE '12 also adds Dynamic Comebacks, which are those tried and true combos you see folks like Cena throw out that take them from the edge of defeat to clearing the ring. If you reach a certain amount of damage, you'll be able to have a shot to use this one-time combo. Pull it off, and you get two Finishers.

These stored Finishers and Dynamic Comebacks make it seem like my friends and I are going to have some awesome matches, but THQ and Yuke's want you to have awesome matches with computer-controlled opponents, too. The AI learns this time around. If you spam run attacks like I do (I'm infamous on the Internet for my floatover DDT), the computer opponent is supposed to recognize that and be ready to counter it. For the first time, THQ says that the computer is going to remember what you've been doing and what it's been doing. (i.e. if it picks up a chair, it's not going to drop it -- it's going to hit you with it.)

Balancing the difficulty isn't just a focus when it comes to the man versus machine matches. THQ found that people figured out how to master the pinning system pretty quickly in SVR 11, so it's been redone in WWE '12. It's still a metered system (hold a button to fill a meter and release it when it gets to a window on the meter), but the window moves around this time at random -- it won't always be in the same spot. Similarly, the window size varies on how beat up you are, and if you're pinned after the opponent hits his Finisher, the meter might not pop up to the two-count so you'd only have one shot at it. "

Official Logo For WWE Capitol Punishment PPV

On June 19th, WWE will be unveiling a new pay-per-view called Capitol Punishment.  As of press time, no details have been released about Capitol Punishment.  The one thing we do know is the pay-per-view will take place on June 19th at the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C.  The official logo for Capitol Punishment is above this story.

Update on John Morrison Having Neck Surgery (More Inside)

As previously reported, WWE RAW Superstar John Morrison is set to undergo neck surgery.

We can now confirm that the reason Morrison needs this surgery is due to injuries he sustained back at WWE Extreme Rules, in which Morrison competed in the main event. Following the match, Morrison was complaining of neck pain.

Sometime after the pay-per-view concluded, it was learned that Morrison would indeed need to undergo surgery, so the segment between Morrison and R-Truth on last week's RAW was penciled in in order to write Morrison off of television for the time being.

As of this writing, it is not known how much time Morrison will have to miss from the ring, but we will keep you updated as we learn more information.

John Morrison stated on his Twitter account this morning that he's undergoing surgery to repair his neck. He wrote: 

"I'm about to get an operation to fix my neck- I will return @RonKillings."

The Raw Superstar did not work this past weekend's Raw live events despite being advertised.

A WWE source informed us over the weekend that Morrison has been dealing with a bad neck for quite some time.

We'll keep you posted on his status - hopefully everything goes smoothly and he has a quick recovery.

Chris Jericho Comments On Returning To WWE And Edge's Retirement! (More Inside)

 Chris Jericho recently spoke to IGN and talked about his future with WWE. Here are some highlights:


IGN: You had a bunch of your WWE comrades in the crowd (at DWTS) there cheering you on. That must have felt great.

Jericho: It was cool. And it’s funny because at first there were going to be a lot more. For the first couple weeks there were a lot of people and then there wasn’t for a while because I think when the ratings for the show came in, I think the WWE got in trouble a little bit from the USA network. Because having them be there was, in a sense, promoting the show that runs head to head with RAW. But it was nice. It was a great show of solidarity and support from my peers. And a lot of people ask “What do the wrestling fans think of this?” but there never really was anybody ball-busting me because from the very first week they felt I could do this. I almost kind of got too good too early. I think, like, my second week Quickstep – had I done that in week 6, I would have got 10′s. But at that point in time you weren’t allowed to give 10′s. It was too early in the competition. I kind of consider myself to be a pioneer. Not only as a wrestler, but in rock n’ roll. Because I’m the first wrestling guy and the first rocker who’s done the show. And I think it tears down some of the boundaries there. I think you’re going to see more rock stars and wrestlers do it because it’s a great opportunity and it’s a lot of fun. And it really does push you as a performer. And I think that’s what you look for.


IGN: Well, that sort of feeds into my next question which is “when are you headed back to the WWE?” You said not until you can do something new with your character.

Jericho: I don’t want to go back and do the same thing. And do the same character I was doing last time. You constantly have to reinvent yourself. It’s kind of a strange analogy but I think you’ll pick it up when I say it – I always consider myself to be the Madonna of wrestling. And what I mean by that is “constantly re-inventing yourself.” Every album Madonna does, she morphs into new styles of music and new looks. And when you work for the WWE, you work 52 weeks out of the year and on TV every week. You can’t look the same or act the same every week. It gets boring. And I think that’s why I’ve had such longevity as a performer and was always the guy to watch because people wanted to see what I did next. I even did that on Dancing with the Stars. And you have to do that or else you become predictable. And that’s the worst thing you can become when you’re in show business.


IGN: I wanted to get your thoughts on Edge’s retirement, which came as a shock to everyone.

Jericho: I think it’s one of those things that a lot of people forget about wrestling, which is that even though it’s show business it’s physically taxing. I’m actually surprised that more people don’t get seriously hurt in the ring. And I’m thankful that it doesn’t happen. But Edge has been battling those problems for years and years and it was a shock and it’s sad, but I look at the bright side, which is that at least they caught it before something more serious happened. Because this is a very physical, dangerous business and I think it gets forgotten with all the pomp and circumstance sometimes. So once in a while you get moments like with Edge where you remember just how real it is.

I mean, I hate it when people use the word “fake” to describe wrestling. Yeah, it’s show business and it’s pre-determined, but it’s not like we have stunt men in there doing all our routines for us. You’re out there really paying the price physically and mentally too. Edge is one of the greats and I’m sure he’ll have a job in the WWE for as long as he wants. He’s very smart. He understands the business. I’m just glad he didn’t get seriously hurt and I’m sure he’ll be involved in the business in a lot of ways from now on.

Batista Coming Back to WWE ?

It is being reported that the WWE has made an offer to Dave Batista to return to the company. This comes as no surprise after Batista’s MMA deal with Strikeforce fell through and with Edge retiring hiring Batista would be easier on the creative team on either brand as they would have more time to build stars instead of pushing someone there quicker than desired. Batista has also shown interest in being a movie star and has been involved in a few films already.

Major Backstage Heat on John Morrison And Melina (More Inside)

It is being reported by The Pro Wrestling Torch that there is some major backstage head on real life couple John Morrison and Melina. Most of the head is directed at Morrison who reportedly brushed off Trish Stratus at WrestleMania 27 during the post match celebrations in which  Stratus hugged Snooki and went to hug Morrison, but he had already turned his back on her. Morrison then led Snooki to the corner of the ring and used the Jersey Shore star as a shield, to guard himself from Stratus.

Internally within WWE it is believed that Morrison purposely done this in spite of Trish Stratus who he believed took  Melina's spot on the card or had to portray himself as such so that she would believe he was anything but rude to her.

Behind the scenes in the weeks leading up to WrestleMania, Morrison had rejected many of Stratus ideas for the match and this hurt her and word got around about his refusal to comply which lead to internal heat prior to the WrestleMania brush-off. Stratus is highly regarded amongst company personnel and Morrison's unprofessionalism has not impressed WWE management.

Morrison's backstage reputation is said to not be very strong among peers even prior to this incident and few have any respect for him especially after he allowed his girlfriend Melina to engage in numerous sexual relationships with other wrestlers, most notably Batista who wrote the following in his autobiography:

"My wife thought I was sleeping with Melina right off the bat, while we were still married. It wasn't true, but it did make me feel guilty about being friends with her.

"Since then, as I've said, Melina and I have gotten closer and our relationship has become physical. That's caused a bit of controversy, but I don't give a shit. She's my friend, and I love her very much."
