PC Gaming is Not Dead

Razer, the world leader in high performance gaming hardware, has just taken out a full page in today’s Wall Street Journal (Global Edition) to address an open letter to Microsoft’s Xbox, Sony’s Playstation and Nintendo’s Wii consoles.

Personally I think PC gaming is not dead, it's far from dead. With all the games coming to the PC these coming months e.g. Battlefield 3, Dota 2, Diablo III, how can one definitively say that PC gaming is dead? Heck, I have a 500GB slim PS3 at home packed with games, but I still play games on my PC as heavily as I would on my consoles and handhelds.

That said, the following is the Razer open letter just like how you'd see it on the Wall Street Journal. Read on:

International Dota 2 Championships Schedules, Standings, Live Stream

With the launching of Dota 2, Valve has gathered the most elite Dota teams around the world and have pitted them against each other in the first ever all-out International Dota 2 Championships at Cologne, Germany.

The Philippines' own team Mineski Infinity is participating and is one of the first eight teams in the world to play Dota 2 while trying to become the first Dota 2 world champions. Needless to say, Mineski Infinity might be the best in the whole Philippine nation, but like I said, Valve has gathered the most elite Dota teams around the world. Each team must seriously wear their game face on throughout the whole tournament.

Proceed below to see the International Dota 2 Championship match schedules, team standings and scores, and the live video streaming online hyperlink.

International Dota 2 Championships Schedules - August 17, 2011 Match Card

International Dota 2 Championships Scores and Team Standings

The sixteen teams are split up into four groups of four, and each team plays one game against everyone in their group. The results of the group stage will populate the winners and losers bracket. The two teams in each group with the best won/loss record in the group stage advance to the winners bracket. The two teams with the worst won/loss record in the group stage are placed in the losers bracket. Ties at the conclusion of the group stage will be broken by total match time for their wins (lower is better).

We wish Mineski Infinity good luck. May the best Dota 2 team win.

Dota 2 Trailer, Heroes List and Pictures

If you're an avid Dota (Defense of the Ancients) fan, then you're going to love this: Gaming company Valve recently released the Dota 2 trailer over at the Gamescom trade fair at Cologne, Germany.

The new Dota 2 game coming from Valve for the PC and Mac promises to take the unique blend of online RTS and RPG action that has made Dota popular with tens of millions of gamers around the world.

Anyway, watch the video below for the Dota 2 trailer and try to identify the showcased heroes:

Dota 2 Official Trailer

As far as I can tell, I personally think most of the original Dota heroes are going to be preserved in Dota 2. I mean, the trailer just showed—in order of appearance—Traxex, Mogul Kahn, Stygwyr, Magina, Raigor, Sven, Mangix, Darkterror, Razor, Balanar, Pudge, Crixalis, Rylai Crestfall, Lina Inverse, Viper, and Knight Davion. And they were well presented too.

Dota 2 Gameplay Screenshots and Heroes List

This is the new Doombringer sprite at Valve's Dota 2 engine. As you can see, many aspects of the game has been retained including the map itself. Aside from boasting greater graphics, many existing features has also been improved for better gameplay. Come on, it won't be named Dota 2 for nothing.

And here's Dota 2's hero selection screen. I was an avid Dota player once, but I can't seem to remember all of it since the last time I played was like 4 years ago. But as far as I can tell, there are fewer heroes available at Dota 2.

I dunno how the guys over at Valve will remedy this, but for sure it will involve patches and downloads, hopefully for free.

And hey, if this thing clicks (which I'm sure it will), I'mma register for an account myself and play Dota 2.

FYI, for those who still don't know, Lina Inverse the Slayer from Dota and Lina from Dota 2 has been taken from Lina Inverse of the Slayers anime. For real. Of course, Valve just omitted the Inverse in Dota 2 to avoid potential copyright issues.

'Till my next installment.

P.S. Heroes of Newerth. Wait, what?

Google+ Games List

Word was out that a Google+ user can now play games on Google+'s games tab. So I started tinkering with my Google+ account, needless to say I'm not a big fan of social networking (didn't even have a Friendster account).

What I'm a big fan of though, are games. And unsurprisingly, my Google+ games tab is already activated. Me being me, I took a screengrab of the initial Google+ games list—or as they would say, the 1st Generation Google+ Games.

Proceed to the screengrab below to see the first 16 games Google+ is offering:

If you're a Facebook user, then you've probably heard of Bejeweled Blitz, Zynga Poker, and Zombie Lane. Even so, you might've heard other titles on different platforms such as Angry Birds on the iPad.

One last thing though: Look at the game icon for Crime City. Yes, that's John Cena on the Google+ games list.

Now I'm off to sample these games. Hope I find them good.

Pokemon Lilac Download

We have another beautiful Pokemon rom hack in the name of Pokemon Lilac. It's a FireRed-based hack made by Dr. Fuji.

What's very noticeable in this Pokemon Lilac is its very gorgeous tiles.  You should expect more of the same old Pokemon in this rom hack because it's set around the time of Pokemon Gold, Silver and Crystal. That said, it still looks amazing. And I like how Dr. Fuji infused old Pokemon, taking advantage of and integrating Lilac's storyline into the official Pokemon merchandise storyline. You'll feel like you're playing an official sidestory.

Pokemon Lilac Synopsis

It has been a long time coming, but you are now ready to take on a Pokemon adventure across your home region. You're all set to recieve your Pokemon from Professor Oak a larger neighbouring town when your mother informs you that Oak is investigating the nearby Haplon Cave system. Upon your arrival at the caves, a small earthquake shakes the earth around you and a local hiker insists that the fleeing Pokemon demonstrate that it is too dangerous to progress. Once things settle down, you are given the all-clear signal and are allowed to continue to the next town. Inside the cave you come into contact with a determined Professor Oak, spying on a suspicious charcter further into the cave.

The man is no other than a member of the villainous Team Rocket which was thought to have been disbanded three years ago under their leader, Giovanni. Why are Team Rocket snooping around a small cave in Lowen? Why does a shady character continuously follow your every move? Why is your rival so mad at you, despite being friendly for many years beforehand?

The life of a rookie can be a tough one...

Pokemon Lilac Screenshots

Pokemon Lilac Features
  • The new region of Lowen
  • Fabulous tiles
  • D/P/Pt/HG/SS sprites
  • An engaging storyline
  • New TMs and custom move tutors
  • New evolutions methods to catch 'em all
  • New movesets/ base stats for previously forgettable Pokemon

Unfortunately, Pokemon Lilac is currently in Beta 1.1. You only have two gyms available to beat and a Team Rocket event. Regardless, you have quite some time to explore the available world and have fun. Show your support to the dev of Pokemon Lilac by using the signature bar below on forums:

Free Facebook Credits Level Up! Load

Recently Level Up! Games partnered up with a gaming company called Live Gamer to enable Filipino Facebook gamers to buy their Facebook credits using Level Up! prepaid cards. If you haven't read about that, you can read it at the following link: Facebook Credits with Level Up! Load

With respect to that, and particularly from HUGE PLAYER DEMAND (see: inbox and FB page full of request messages), I'm again giving away five P100.00 denominations worth of LU! prepaid cards—a total of P500.00. That's a whopping 65 Facebook Credits, that is, if you manage to enter all the pins given below without anyone getting ahead of you.

Do note that the free Level Up! load pins I'm about to give you are not solely for Facebook Credits alone. These free Level Up! load pins could also be used for LU!'s roster of online games, such as Ragnarok, RF Online, Rohan Online, Grand Chase, Allods Online, and even Ben 10: Omniverse.

So enough chatter. I just hope you type—or in this case copy-paste—fast. Remember, I'm going to give away only five P100.00 Level Up! load pins on this post. Put in the equation the dozens of viewers viewing this page at the same time as you are. If you get one, congratulations. If you get none, well, better luck next time.

Whatever your game is, get your fingers ready. Go!

Card Number                          PIN

PLC0412110002656             5M4EYVAQQK

PLC0412110002660             8L2FBPBLBU
PLC0412110002661             3H1XVLBVGH

If you do manage to snatch one of the codes above, saying a little thank you wouldn't hurt. Whatever your game is, be it at Facebook or at Level Up! itself, at least with these small amounts you can buy something useful.

Don't forget to like the Tj's Daily! Facebook page. With enough likes (1,000 likes I guess), I may do another free Facebook Credits Level Up! load giveaway in the near future.

Plants vs Zombies Deadly Garden PSP

The Plants vs Zombies mania might've slowed down due to the recent rise to fame of Angry Birds, nonetheless a project developer on the PSP have created the Plants vs Zombies PSP.

James Cutter, a homebrew coder, wrote the Plants vs Zombies PSP homebrew game titled Deadly Garden. Well, I don't know why it's titled Deadly Garden, but don't expect it to be exactly like the PC version of the game. Plants vs Zombies Deadly Garden has some funky looking plants and has no sounds at all, but this is just the beta version. Expect prettier graphics and a more nicer, more complete game in the following days to come.

Plants vs Zombies Deadly Garden is currently in 1.0 Alpha and has 20 complete fully playable levels. Download link below:

Click here to download Plants vs Zombies Deadly Garden (1.93 MB .zip Mediafire)

Plants vs Zombies Deadly Garden In-game controls:

At plant selection:
• <- and -> = Previous and next plant
• [X] = choose plant
Ingame:
• left, right, up, down: move cursor
• [X] = plant
• [L] and [R] = Previous and next plant

How to install Plants vs Zombies Deadly Garden PSP:

1. Extract the file;
2. Copy the Deadly Garden folder and paste in the GAME folder of your PSP.

I do hope that the development of Plants vs Zombies Deadly Garden for the PSP continues until the game is fully finished. Actually I'm installing the game on my PSP right now. Visit this post every now and then for updates.

Duke Nukem Forever Finally Available

Duke Nukem Forever, the game that took 15 years to be made, has finally been released at last. It's now available at the Steam Network for download and on Amazon, where shipping action starts Monday.

Duke Nukem Forever has received poor reception from critics, grading the game around B. Neil Davey of the United Kingdom's Guardian has particularly hit the the 15-year old game hard. He concluded his article by saying "If this was 15 years in the making, it makes you wonder what they did for the other 14 years and 10 months."

The game is a first person shooter similar to today's games like Halo or Doom. Apparently, the thing that breaks it the most are the awful loading times. But hey, this is Duke Nukem Forever we're talking about. This is the same dude who made the 90s gaming era a hell of a lot better, not including Lara Croft by the way. Duke chews bubblegum, drinks beer, curses obscene words every time he gets a chance, kills aliens, and best of all gets ******** from all the hottest girls around town.

Duke Nukem Forever System Requirements

Minimum:
OS: Windows XP/Vista/7
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo @ 2.0 Ghz / AMD Athlon 64 X2 @ 2.0 Ghz
Memory: 1 Gb
Hard Disk Space: 10 Gb free
Video Memory: 256 MB
Video Card: nVidia GeForce 7600 / ATI Radeon HD 2600
Sound Card: DirectX Compatible
OTHER REQUIREMENTS & SUPPORTS: Initial installations required (included with the game) are Microsoft DirectX, Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable (ATL), Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable, and AMD Dual Core Optimizer. (AMD optimizer required only for specific AMD processors to run the game correctly, but installs for all of them.)
OTHER REQUIREMENTS & SUPPORTS: Does not support Windows XP 64

Duke Nukem Forever is available at Steam for $49.99 while PS3 and Xbox 360 versions sell at Amazon for $59.99 each.

Windows 8 Going to Support Xbox 360 Gaming

There have been rumors circulating the net about the upcoming Windows 8's capability to run Xbox 360 games such as smash hit Halo Reach.

This issue comes along as Microsoft wants to ensure that Windows 8 has a wide range of gaming capabilities, possibly including the Xbox 360 experience complete with Xbox Live.

Well, how about profits? You can't deny that Microsoft earns money every time it sells an Xbox 360 unit. Well, remember what Sony said? They said that they actually make little money off the PS3 and their biggest earners are the titles being sold here and there. Let's just think that same thing applies to Microsoft. If that's true, then removing the Xbox 360 from the equation would earn them more profit.

That's not to say that Xbox 360 gamers won't get angry. As early as now the theoretical PC to Xbox 360 model is getting a lot of flak from fans. They're saying that PC geeks would just cheat their way through and that pirates would dilute the playing field.

At the end of it all this is still just a rumor, nothing else. But–and a huge but it would be–seeing that the Xbox 360 has been around for years, it may just be time to call it quits, retire this monster, integrate its titles with the immortal PC, and move on with the Xbox 720.

Let the warcries begin.

God Eater Burst Bullet Mixing and Best Bullet Combinations Guide

God Eater Burst is such a very challenging game that – sword and shield leet skills aside – you also need to juice up your bullets for wider area hits and stronger damage – that is, if you know how to properly mix bullets.

Now, I'll compile here God Eater Burst's best bullet combinations. Y'know, the kind that will drain 60 OP at one shot but will cause massive damage when properly used. And just imagine the possibilities of these bullets combined with the 9999 OP CWCheat.

Now, this is going to be a lot of God Eater Burst bullet mixing information. I suggest you take it in one by one and not in one seating, or else you'll get your head blown off. Anyway, read on and enjoy:

How to create/modify a bullet in God Eater Burst

1. Go to any terminal in the Fenrir Far East Branch Headquarters;

2. Select the Bullet option from the menu;

3. Select an empty box in the bullet deposit box then press triangle for the bullet menu. You can create a new bullet, edit an existing bullet, or duplicate an existing bullet;

4. You'll arrive at this bullet interface. Edit your bullet to your liking, save it and name it as your own;

WARNING: Creating bullets could take an obscene amount of time off your day. I tried making one to no success and it ate 5 hours of my morning.

God Eater Bullet Mixes and Combinations Guide

Now, just look at all the photos below and follow the formula on your bullet mixing menu. Bullet credits via their respective owners/mixers:

You can also download a .doc file via the link below which also contains bullet mixes that aren't mentioned above:

Download GOD EATER BULLETS.doc here

Filename: GOD EATER BULLETS
Format: Microsoft Word File (.doc)
Size: 39.5KB

Notes:

• Make sure you have sufficient OP to fire the bullets above. As you can see, those bullets eat OP big time. You'll be on a crunch if you'll use these in a critical mission;
• You can't create some of the bullets above until you've reached a certain difficulty setting (or at least if Licca hasn't mailed you information regarding new chips yet);
• Bullets above work as advertised when used with the proper gun i.e. gun that has a Blaze element multiplier of 5.60x. So unless you're using a specialized bullet on a specialized gun, you'll still be seeing mediocre bullet damage;
• Deco Bullets are decoration effect bullets and depends on how you use it,you can make certain bullet hit a certain aragami weakspot or make your bullet a long range type. Less decoration means more hits and more damage;
• SS, S, M and L pertain to the size of the bullet you're mixing;
• There are only 8 slots in the bullet mixing menu. Make every slot count.

And just to piss you off, you can even reach up to 5,418 damage. Watch the YouTube clip below (God Eater Japanese Version):

The video above and of course, this very post, should inspire you to create your own 5000D+ bullet mix. Like I said, who needs 9999 Gun Attack when you can just do 9999 OP and use the bullets mentioned above to impress your friends?

Thanks and credits to all the people that contributed to this post (too many to mention). This God Eater Burst bullet mixing compilation won't be possible without these folks.

If you have your very own strong bullet mix, you can send it to us either through the Contact Us link above  or the e-mail icon on the right. We can publish it here and even include your name on the page!

Kat Hack Script for Katamari Damacy Game

If you're bored with what you're doing in the internet or surfing perhaps, I got a neat trick for you. It's a Javascript bookmarklet called KatHack which lets you play Katamari Damacy on any web page, be it on Facebook, Reddit, or your favorite forums.

Doing it is pretty simple. Just copy and paste the red text below onto your address bar and just OK to everything:

javascript:var i,s,ss=['http://kathack.com/js/kh.js','http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.5.1/jquery.min.js'];for(i=0;i!=ss.length;i++){s=document.createElement('script');s.src=ss[i];document.body.appendChild(s);}void(0);

What you do here is roll the ball around your screen using your mouse's right-click key and gather all the objects – in this case web tiles – you can. Simple yet fun.

Anyway, KatHack was the winner of the 2011 Yahoo! HackU contest at University of Washington. It has to be, since no other script lets you play Katamari Damacy on screen.

Pokemon Flora Sky Final Version and Walkthrough Guide Download

Update: I just updated the Pokemon Flora Sky Walkthrough link. The guide is now in English and in the Microsoft Word .docx format.

It's Pokemon time again here. If you remember I previously posted about Ciro's Pokemon Maker and made it available for download. Now I'm going to talk about a fantastic Pokemon Emerald-based emulation hack for the PC and the PSP – Pokemon Flora Sky.

What is Pokemon Flora Sky you ask? It's an edited version of Pokemon Emerald in which a new story is laid, new pokemons – coming from Generations IV and V – are to be caught, and where a whole new land is to be explored. I've been playing it myself and it has my approval.

It's kind of difficult to play, because even if you do a level grind on your Pokemon, the city Gym Leaders and your opponents would always be near or around your level. Sheer strength aside, a little bit of strategy would also be needed.

Pokemon Flora Sky features:

• Gen IV and V Pokemon, including Legendaries
• New storyline
• Day and night GUI
• New map, town, building and tree sprites
• New Pokemon Center options

Recently, Pokemon Flora Sky's final version has been released. It has lots of major and minor bug fixes, considering all the previous Pokemon Flora Sky versions were incomplete betas. So scroll on down below to download the Pokemon Flora Sky Final Version:

Click HERE to download the Pokemon Flora Sky Final Version*

File name: 1986 - Pokemon - Emerald Version (U).gba
Size: 32MB
Status: Scanned, 0 security concerns found
Format: .gba
Files: 1

*Note: The ROM you will be downloading is titled "1986 - Pokemon - Emerald Version (U).gba but it is already UPS patched to be Pokemon Flora Sky. Just paste and play.

And seeing that this Pokemon game is relatively new, you can't avoid getting lost on quests and prerequisites. So I'm also throwing in a Pokemon Flora Sky walkthrough guide to assist you in playing through the game.

Click HERE to download the Pokemon Flora Sky Walkthrough Guide

Anyway, you can play Pokemon Flora Sky right in your desktop, but if you have gPSP installed in your Playstation Portable you can play it in there too.

With regards to cheating your way through Pokemon Flora Sky, it's possible through Ciro's Pokemon Maker. See, every new Pokemon sprite you can find in Pokemon Flora Sky has an existing equivalent from its base, in this case it's Pokemon Emerald. It's just a simple matter of changing the Pokemon sprites and cry, but its general code is the same all throughout. For example, you have Charizard in Pokemon Emerald. Here in Pokemon Flora Sky that same Charizard's sprite and cry has been replaced with Torterra. So basically if you use Charizard Pokemon Emerald modifier codes and apply it on Flora Sky, your Torterra will be modified to your liking. The only problem is, you have to find which Pokemon in Flora Sky is its equivalent in Emerald. Go figure.

Credits to Sky and the Pokemon Community forums for creating and spreading the Pokemon Flora Sky Final Version. And of course me, for redistributing it in patched download.

'Till my next installment.
